EDUCATION OVERSIGHT BOARD MEETING MINUTES

Call to Order and Roll Call: Mr. Churchwell called the meeting to order and declared a quorum present.
Approval of Minutes: Minutes of the September 19, 2001 meeting were approved as submitted.
Proposed Revisions of FY 2002 Budget: Mr. Buswell reported that no revisions had been made since the last board meeting.
Report of FY 2002 Year-to-Date Expenditures: Report distributed to board members. Mr. Buswell explained that $497,000 from HB 1601 remains in the account. Several expenditures added for the Office of Accountability included purchases of antivirus software, internet access, and computer hardware to replace the existing server.
Proposed Revisions of FY 2003 Budget: Mr. Buswell reported that no revisions had been made since the last board meeting and explained that the topic was listed on the agenda in anticipation of being able to add Office of Accountability personnel and progressing with HB 1601.
Continued Report on Office of Accountability Summer Activities: Mr. Hesser presented information regarding Oklahoma’s ACT, SAT, AP, and NAEP results that were released throughout the summer and tabled at the September meeting due to time constraints. Discussion followed.
Progress Report on Profiles 2001 Project: Mr. Buswell said that all preliminary data requests have been submitted, although a supplemental request is being prepared for the State Department of Education. Data from the State Regents has been delayed, but all information requested from the Department of Career-Technology has been received.
New Business: Ms. Johnson provided a brief report to the board concerning the use of the Profiles data by grant writers throughout the state. She said that the Rose State College Educational Talent Search and Chickasaw Nation Upward Bound programs have reported receiving large awards as a result of the information provided by the Office of Accountability.
